- Why are balance bikes such a good idea for young children?
- They help to develop and improve balance, which has a positive affect on a child's overall development of speech, reading and spacial skills. It also develops muscles and motor skills. Basically, it is good stuff.
- How do Kiddimoto bikes help my child learn to ride a regular bike?
- Balance bikes teach your child to learn natural balance. Once your child has balance on a Kiddimoto, they own that balance forever. They can progress easily to a regular bike with pedals. For more information on this see our Balance Learning and Play page.
- Why don't your bikes have pedals?
- They are balance bikes for children aged 2 to 6 years (from 3 years for Kurve bikes). Pedals are the next stage of riding. Pedals will only get in the way.
- Why don't your bikes have stabilisers?
- Because they are balance bikes. Stabilisers don't help to develop balance. They do the opposite. Back to FAQs
- Do the bikes have brakes?
- No. Having a brake adds another thing for a small child to think about. It is an unwanted distraction. Brakes will come later, with a pedal bicycle. Let's get the balance sorted first!
- How is my child supposed to stop the bike?
- Use their feet! Kids will do this naturally and very safely.
- My daughter is very small for her age - will she be able to ride your bikes?
- Most children of 2 years and above will be OK (3 years for Kurve bikes). The minimum inside leg should be 33cm.
- Are the bike seats adjustable?
- The Kurve bikes have adjustable seats. Back to FAQs
- How long will my child be able to use the balance bike for?
- They will use a balance bike for about a year or more and then be ready to move up to a pedal bicycle. We have customers that have used their bike for 5 years.
- Can I fit stabilisers to my balance bike?
- No. Stabilisers do not help develop balance.
- How easy is it to assemble the bikes?
- It is very simple. All instructions are straightforward and have easy to follow pictures.
- Are your balance bikes heavy?
- They weigh between 3 and 7kg. It depends on the model. Check the product description for each bike. They are less than half the weight of a regular metal bicycle. Back to FAQs
- What sort of guarantee comes with Kiddimoto balance bikes?
- 1 year on all parts.
- Why are your bikes not a bit cheaper?
- You get what you pay for. We offer high quality products and service. They are not cheap but they are very good value.
- How do I keep my child's bike in the best possible condition?
- Ensure it does not get wet. Do not leave in direct sunlight. Keep inside when not being used. For more information see our Bike Care page.
- What are your bikes made of?
- They are wooden bikes. The body is made from birch plywood. The bikes have rubber air tyres. Back to FAQs
- Are your bikes made in Somerset?
- They are designed in Somerset. They used to be made in Somerset but now they are made in China.
- Do you hold spare parts in stock?
- Yes, we can replace any part for you. Just Contact Us for help on this.
- Are the tyres the same as normal bike tyres?
- The tyres are pneumatic. They have an inner tube just like a pedal bike. The tyre size is 12 inches.
- How do I decide what Kiddimoto bike to buy?
- It is down to your preference. What is your child's favorite colour? What is their fave style. Our About Us page has a brief description of each style of bike. Alternatively, take some time to look through our website with your child and let them decide.
- Does your personalisation come in sticker form?
- Our personalization comes in the form of a custom vinyl sticker which we apply onto your choice of bike or helmet. We can supply the vinyl separately on request. Back to FAQs
- What safety standards are the bikes made to?
- Kiddimoto bikes are made to British Standard EN71.
- Is the bike meant for indoor as well as outdoor use?
- Sure, no problem. Your balance bike is ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
- Why do your photos show children with no helmets riding your bikes?
- Helmets are not mandatory. We do highly recommend that your child always wears a Kiddimoto helmet. We have some great designs to choose from - please browse our helmet collection.
- Why can't the bike be used on gravel or sand?
- It is very difficult for a small child to push a bike through gravel or sand. It is the same as you trying to ride your bike through soft sand. Back to FAQs
- Why can't the bike be used on hills?
- It is pretty dangerous. Your child may not be able to stop or control their bike on a hill. Think safety first!
- Can children fall off a balance bike?
- Yes. However, it is just like them falling when they are walking or running. A child's feet are always on the ground with a balance bike.
- Why don't your bikes have a hand brake?
- It is very tricky for a small child to work a brake. That comes later with a pedal bike. Back to FAQs
- What if I want to return my bike?
- No problem. Just Contact Us within 7 days of receiving your order. All we ask is you let us know why you want to return the bike. We will give a full refund provided the bike is in perfect unused condition. You will need to pay for the return delivery.
- Can I still return my bike if I have opened the packaging?
- Yes, if everything is in perfect condition.
- Can I still return the bike if I have assembled it?
- Yes, if everything is in perfect condition. Back to FAQs
