Wayne Rainey was born on 23rd October 1960 in California. He began his career racing in the AMA Grand National Championship. In 1982 he competed in the AMA Superbike championship as a teammate to Eddie Lawson and moved the following year to the Grand Prix circuit. He rode 95 Grands Prix in the late 80s/early 90s and won three consecutive 500cc World Championships in 1990,91 and 92. He was on his way to a fourth title in 1993 when a crash at the Italian Grand Prix ended his career. Despite his subsequent disability, Wayne Rainey continued to be involved in the world of GP racing as a team manager. He was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2007.
