Valentino Rossi is one of the most successful motorcycle racers in history, winning nine Grand Prix World Championships. Born on 16th February 1979, he began riding when very young, starting with karting, then minimoto then big engine bikes. When MotoGP saw the arrival of 990cc machines in 2002, Rossi excelled, winning 8 of the first 9 races and a total of 11 in all to claim the championship that year.
